Aerial surveys photograph the forest and piece it together. However, as with all other methodologies apart from satellites, aerial surveys need to be initiated every time they are required. Many months can pass and large scale investments needed, before viable salvage operation decisions can be made. This results in logistical challenges and timber damage.
Our forest disturbance product enables forestry leaders to remotely evaluate post-storm risks and calculate the value of salvageable timber. It tells you when a storm has occurred, its location and extent, plus the count, volume and value of inventory.
